PI: Priscilla Erickson
Priscilla began her studies in biology at Kenyon College in Ohio, where she studied the effect of stress on life history traits in birds. She did her PhD work in Craig Miller's lab at UC Berkeley, studying the genetic and developmental basis of skeletal evolution in threespine stickleback fish. For her postdoc, she studied the evolution of fruit flies over seasonal timescales with Alan Bergland at the University of Virginia. After a brief stint as a visiting faculty member, she joined the Biology department at the University of Richmond full time in Fall 2021. Outside of work, Priscilla loves swimming, hiking, rock climbing, working on her native plant gardens, and hanging out with her dog, Mindy (who also enjoys helping out with fly maintenance).

Lab Manager: Weston GrayWeston graduated from the College of Wooster in 2019 with a B.A. in Biology and History. While at the college, he conducted research examining the evolutionary processes impacting the melanistic allele in the eastern grey squirrel population of Ohio. He joined the lab during the summer of 2023. In his free time, Weston enjoys hiking and being outdoors, following sports, and reading.

Undergraduate students
Jerry He
UR '25
Jerry is a rising sophomore majored in Biology and on a pre-med track. He is developing assays to measure cold and heat tolerance in Z. indianus. Outside of the lab, he likes to practice bass guitar and play Muay Thai. |
Michelle Pogrebetskaya
Michelle is a junior studying Biochemistry and Molecular Biology along with Russian Studies. In Dr. Erickson's lab she is genetically comparing and invasive species of fruit fly and their adaptations to different environments. In her free time she loves crocheting, going to concerts and hiking!
|
Jillian Yates
Jillian (UR '24) is a Biology major and Health Studies minor on a pre-physical therapy track. She is currently working to help determine if there is rapid evolution in morphology after fly colonization. In her free time, she likes spending time outside and painting.
|
Cat Jalbert
Cat joined the lab specifically to hone her love of CRISPRs and all things genome-editing! She's helping to improve our protocol for injecting Z. indianus embryos. When she's not in lab she loves baking, cooking and running.
